If you’re looking for a healthy, flavored drink for the summer, look no further. Making your own sugar-free ice tea is easy, healthy and a great alternative to plain, flavorless water.

Green tea is great for your health – studies continue to show that green tea helps to prevent cancer and other diseases ¹, ², ³. In the summer I find it harder to get my green tea fix, because it’s too warm for cups of boiling tea. A great solution is to make green ice tea, which is also a great way to drink enough water. I use two bags of green tea for a litre of water as I don’t like my tea strong, but if you do you can use up to four bags. I use green tea by Lipton (my favourite).

  1. Take a large carafe and fill it with warm water. Add the tea bags and let them brew for about 10 minutes. Using warm water instead of boiling water ensures that the tea won’t get bitter. Cold water also works, but you will need to leave the tea bags a little longer.
  2. Remove the tea bags and add the ginger and lemon slices.
Recipe Notes

This green ice tea is mega-healthy, so drink it as much and as often as you want. Add some ice cubes for extra coolness :-).
